I’ve encountered an issue with press releases and the archive – it doesn’t work as expected. Literally, all press releases appear in the main area of the page irrespective of the year selected in the archive in the sidebar. For example, if I select 2015 I would expect that only the 2015 press releases appear on the page but in fact, all press releases appear beginning with the most recent. Please advise or provide some instruction for a fix.

first: try re-saving your permalinks under:
Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks (just click save changes)

if this does not work, try temporarily changing to a standard twenty-something theme. If it then works, you might want to reach out to your theme’s developers.

    any joy?

Unfortunately, the Permalink resave didn’t seem to do the trick and I don’t want to change the theme. Thanks for the help.

What if I changed the Common settings from custom to numeric? Would that screw up my blog posts?

changed the Common settings from custom to numeric

    don’t know what that means.

Issue is not plugin related. We have even tested it with a standard Bones theme, the base theme of your site, and have had no issues. This seems to be something related to the modifications made to the base bones theme that is causing this.

How exactly are the custom post type ‘press-releases’ being created?
More specifically, how are the press-release rewrite rules being created?

Issue marked as resolved as it’s not plugin related.
