I created a sub-category and then moved a post into it – I tried to remove the post from the parent category but it refuses to disappear! In other words all posts in the sub-category always appear in the parent category.
Is this standard behaviour? I remember reading somewhere that it should be possible to have an empty parent category.
Oddly in WP 2.1 the edit posts admin screen always showed the parent category check-box ‘checked’ (even after I unchecked it) whereas in WP 2.3.2 the post only appears to be a member of the sub-category. In both versions the post is visible in both parent and sub categories.
I’ve had a look at the underlying data and there is only one row in wp_term_relationships for the post in question (it points to the term_taxonomy_id of the sub-category).
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
