• hi,
    thank you in advance.
I searched around and did not come across what I was looking for. It is probably far simpler then I assume but I am a bit intimidated by it.

I am hoping there is a “custom field” or Widget I can use to achieve what I am looking for.

Basically I would like to format my site to have the main blog front page that shows all recent posts and what not based on my theme layout, but I would like to have individual pages, accessible from the main page that could be “category home pages” so if something is posted under the category “category A1” you can click on the A1 page and all A1 posts will be listed there chronologically.

Please let me know if this is feasible, and also if there are any known sites laying out different custom field scripts for functions like and similar to this.

    Thank you again,
    Kyle

  • If Pages are the basis of your navigation then look at using this technique: How to easily display links to both Pages and Categories in the blog navigation header?

very useful information, thank you… but Im afraid I either passed over or missed where it explained what I’m looking to do.

let me explain a little better.

I will walk through an example.

I want to have my pages set up to show specific posts.
lets say I have a News, Entertainment, Sports, and Life page.

I want my main blog feed to stay as is, a home page showing all current and new posts in chronological or posting order.

This is where the questions start.

I want to use the page called News as a regular page so I can modify some permanent text within it such as a brief description etc. Under this I would like to have a feed of the last 10 posts posted under my “News” category.

now do I need to set up a custom page?
is there a script that I can add to a page to Search, Pull and Show the last XX posts specifically posted to News?
is there a custom field entry perhaps I can use?

    Thanks again.

See the Page of Posts example in the Pages article.

Or see a plugin such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/list-category-posts/
