[Resolved] posting to eway part way through form?

  • Hi Ross,
we’ve got a long form with includes the file upload field (often these files are quite large). So I am wondering whether the eway payment fires at Submit or after the file upload has completed (might take 10min).

Also, if it happens at the end, is there any way to e.g. break a form into pages and make eway payment fire when pressing next on the page the credit card details are entered (without using multiple forms).

    Thanks
    Alexander

    G’day Alexander,

When you have a file upload, the web browser bundles it in with the form data posted to the website, so the form submission happens after the file upload. The eWAY payment happens on form validation for the last page of the form, after the standard form validation has occurred and the form has been validated.

If you need to accept a file upload after payment, you’ll need to break the process into two separate forms and somehow make the second form dependant on having a successful entry in the first form.

    cheers,
    Ross

Thinking about it, what if you put the large file upload on one Gravity Forms page, and the credit card on the last page? That way, the upload succeeds / fails before the payment attempt.

That is an excellent idea, thanks for that Ross.
