When a post has a ( in the title or part of the excerpt, everything starting with the parenthesis is ignored and not posted.

    Hi @brianhurley,

I was able to repeat this on my end. It looks like with the new LinkedIn endpoints that it doesn’t like brackets. I have just updated the plugin then so that brackets are replaced with ” – ” so that the content can still be shared somewhat ok. I couldn’t think of a better character to use as LinkedIn was also blocking the square brackets [].

    Thanks,

I agree that resolved the issue thank you!

Unfortunately the latest update is posting the same article twice. See this link https://share.icloud.com/photos/038jJkY7iDVvgVk_gUd2uUtoA

    Hi @brianhurley,

When it comes to duplicate sharing this is generally a process issue, and a lot of time people do this by accident and don’t realise. So it’s important that when writing a post, that you don’t click the “Share Now” button on the metabox, and then publish the post, as this will share the post twice. Just publish the post once and the share will happen. The “Share Now” button is just a way you can share something again with a different message.

So try writing a new post, publish it, hopefully 1 share happens. If you can demonstrate repeatedly that posts are sharing multiple times, then we can look into it further. Thanks,

I tried it again, but using a scheduled post. The result was the same.

    Hi @brianhurley,

Can you please try doing a normal publish and not scheduled. Are you saying that is you create a post, and then publish it (without pressing the share now button or anything), it shares to LinkedIn 2 times?

Let’s start there and then we can look at scheduling. And are you using the WordPress classic editor, Gutenberg or some kind of other page builder?

    Thanks,

    Hi @brianhurley,

Actually I think I know what the issue is here. Can you please go to the Help tab in the plugin settings, and go to the question “How do I clear all plugin settings?” and then click the “here” link and this will yes delete all your settings, but then if you re-authenticate again and select your profiles again, this issue won’t happen again. Thanks,

Yes, when I publish an article using the publish button from the edit view on safari, or using the publish option when using jetpack, I get 2 shares to LinkedIn.

I just tried publishing from the edit view on safari as requested. See attached screenshot.

I also tried a free account from buffer and published using their application. It only shared one time. But as an aside, I noticed they handle the parens!
    See attached screenshots.

Note that I also tried deleting and reinstalling the plug-in and that did not make a difference.

Could the double posting be related to the fact I am only posting to the page and not the personal profile as well? See screenshot.

    Hi @brianhurley,

Yes deleting the plugin and re-installing it won’t do anything. It’s very important that the specific link is clicked. So I am glad to hear that worked πŸ™‚

    Hi @brianhurley,

Where is this error actually displayed and is it affecting anything?
I think that error might just be an initialisation error and if you save the settings it shouldn’t persist…

    Thanks,

The error was sent to me in an email by WordPress after the article sharing. The website seemed to be working OK. However I disabled the plug-in just in case.
