    I have the latest Postie version 1.7.32 and would like to have slightly smaller thumbnail images than the smallest option of 32 pixels also would like the thumbnails to be position across the width of the email/post rather than top down, and avoiding the first thumbnail being offset by the text of the post. Can anybody assist with this. TIA.

    Sounds like you really want a gallery. Look at the “Automatically insert image gallery” and “Image Location” settings.

    The thumbnail size is controlled by WordPress settings – look in Settings/Media

    Wayne,
    “Automatically insert image gallery” is set to NO, If I set that to yes the other plugin I use to send new posts out to subscribers cannot reslove the gallery link in the generated email, so in my case NO is the only option and it works fine, but,
    “Image Location” is set to AFTER, but the first (or only image if just one) thumbnail is not exactly placed After the text, if the text ends on a short line the image is placed to the right of the text, technically yes thats after, but I would like it to appear Below the text even on short lines. This happens in the post and is the same in the sent email to subscribers.
    Thanks for you reply.

    I assume you are using “plain” for “Preferred Text Type”

    You can change the image template to make the image lay out the way you want.

    Yes using PLAIN,
    change WP media settings thumbnail size down to 100.
    Changed Postie image template to custom;
    result is the post now has the images below the text and in a single line across the post. However the email has them below the text but now they are not in line, i.e image 2 is in the middle but lower on the page than image 1 and image 3 is then lower than image 2. Strange, I will just have to play with sizes and positions until both the post and the email have the same layout.
    Thanks again

    You might try the “postie_legacy” template.

    Also,
    The Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email sent to subscribers still does not work, it gives me this error;
    Oops.. We are getting some technical error. Please try again or contact admin.
    will try legacy template now

    In plain mode Postie will try to turn URLs into links, so it somewhat depends on what the URL looks like. You can turn this off with the “Automatically convert urls to links” setting.

    OK no change for unsubscribe link it still gives the Oops error.
    the link at the bottom of the email contains all the ###fieldnames### instead of the actual values, email, dbid etc..
    As for the legact template, it placed all the images on the left of the post and the email in one column, so went back to the custom template and that is now the same, think I’m trying to cure more than one thing at a time and losing what changes what!

    Sounds like unsubscribe link doesn’t have anything to do with Postie.

    Remember that custom allows you to put in whatever markup you want and defaults to the last template you had selected. So switching from postie_legacy to custom won’t actually change anything.

    Are you saying no matter what I change from that custom will hold what it had?

    Plugin Author Wayne Allen

    (@wayneallen-1)

    Sorry, I’m adding a bit of confusion. Custom will default to the last saved template.

    seems to be Thumbnail left that does the required format in the post but not in the email;

    Thread Starter webdesads

    (@webdesads)

    Now the unsubscribe link,
    this is what the email contains;
    http://tonysr2build.co.uk/?es=unsubscribe&db=###DBID###&email=###EMAIL###&guid=###GUID###”
    so it looks like the fields are not being loaded with the actual values.

    Based on your comments you have a different plugin that sends out new post notifications? Postie doesn’t do this.

    That was going to be a question too; do you have an addon for postie that can email subscribers?, yes, I use a plugin to send posts as soon as they are plublished and it is called “Email Subscribers” from Store Apps.
    Do you think its changing something in the post or just not taking over that link correctly?
    Is there a way to just unsubscribe with just the email address?
    The email sent correctly indicates the email address of the subscriber. If I click on a thumbnail image in an email it opens the website post with the full sized picture, so that works fine.
    Thanks for all your help.
