# Postie plugin doesn't work

 * I have installed and activated the Postie plugin.
 * I am using the following recommended settings:
    protocol – pop3-ssl server – 
   pop.gmail.com port – 995 userid – karl.dallas password – my password I am getting
   the following errors: Warning: imap_open() [function.imap-open]: Couldn’t open
   stream {pop.gmail.com:995/service=pop3/ssl/notls/novalidate-cert} in /home/housto44/
   public_html/churchlib/wp-content/plugins/postie/postieIMAP.php on line 78 Unable
   to connect. The server said – Can’t connect to gmail-pop.l.google.com,995: Connection
   timed out Try putting in your full email address as a userid and try again.
 * I put in full gmail address (karl.dallas@gmail.com) and received the following
   error:
 * Checking for mail manually
    This is the postie plugin time:1321345982 Revision:
   338604 Last Changed Date: 2010-11-23 11:21:40 -0500 (Tue, 23 Nov 2010)
 * MAKE SURE POP IS TURNED ON IN SETTING AT Gmail
 * Connecting to pop.gmail.com:995 (pop3-ssl)

 *  Server Down
 *  Network Issue
 *  Port/Protocol MisMatch
 *  The Server said:Can’t connect to gmail-pop.l.google.com,995: Connection timed
   out
 * Gmail server is working fine. I am accessing gmail all the time.
 * I need advice on where I need to change the postie settings, pleased.

 * I have tried changing POP3-SSL to POP3 and the port accordingly, but with the
   same (non) result.
    Do no Postie users know (or care) how I can solve this? And
   tell me, why is it so easy to post by email to a WordPress.com blog and virtually
   impossible with WordPress.org?

 * I tried to make it work with gmail and it wouldn’t. I had to use website email
   account and then it worked like a charm.

 * From what I understand. Postie no longer works with WordPress, and the developer
   is not answering email concerning the plugin.
