    There are several ways in which security of the use of Postie system could be improved;

    a) allow spam and antivirus scans to take place before posting the content to the site (this may be needed especially if html is enabled, but I don’t know how important that might be).
    For example, force scans of the email box before download, or allow the user to specify “posting times” , as an alternatively to “posting intervals”, so the user can set the times of posting to times that would allow completion of scheduled scans of the websites emails.
    This helps to detect messages either from spammers who have discovered the email address, or message from authorised authors whose system have been infected, and their system is being used to spread the infection.

    b) help detect discovery of the non-public email address by having an option to specify a password that the users include in their messages to prove validity.
    Any message that is received that does not have the password, would the cause Postie to send an email to the admin that “there could be an unauthorised access to the Postie email address of …@…”.

    I hope some of this is useful.
