Postie imports whatever is in the email. It is quite possible that the CSS in your email conflicts with your theme. Opening the post in the editor modifies the post.
Postie can’t do the same thing since the editor only works in the browser and Postie doesn’t run in the browser when importing emails.
It doesn’t seem to be the css, it seems to be an issue with the template selection
@wayneallen-1 is getting a different template.
If you see the other news, there’s a sidebar on the right-hand side.
We did a test.
we tried to create a simple post (manually) and it worked just fine.
Then we tried to upload a post with Postie and looks like it disables the sidebar on the right-hand side (it’s getting a different template).
If you click on edit and save without change anything, it fixed the issue.
general settings are ok (post with sidebar)

It sounds like you have theme or plug-in for templates. I don’t think templates are standard WordPress feature.
we are using a theme (the gem).
We don’t understand why if we create a post manually, it works just fine (with sidebar) but if we create a post with postie, it shows a different template (with no sidebar)
Because Postie doesn’t know anything about the special features (templates) that your theme adds.
