Title: post_image plugin issue Last modified: August 18, 2016 --- # post_image plugin issue * [startribe](https://wordpress.org/support/users/startribe/) * (@startribe) * [19 years, 1 month ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/post_image-plugin-issue/) * Hey Community, * I ran into another little issue in switching over to my dedicated server and upgrading to wp 2.1. * My post_image pluggin is displaying the default image when there is no image in the post, but when there is an image in post there is no thumb of the image on the preview or excerpt page. * I viewed the source and there is no tag showing at all. I also checked the image upload folder where the thumbs are typically created, and their aren’t any thumb images. I have set permissions on my uploads folder to 777 for testing, and still no luck in those thumb pics being created. * I will continue pushing ahead on this one, and ideas would be great. * -orion * Thread Starter [startribe](https://wordpress.org/support/users/startribe/) * (@startribe) * [19 years, 1 month ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/post_image-plugin-issue/#post-523278) * OK, I did another test by uploading a file on my design server which was a shared server(operating on the same version of wordpress), and I noticed that as soon as I upload a jpg a thumbnail of the image is automatically created in the uploads folder, even before viewing a page utilizing the Post Image Pluggin. Not sure if this is something that the Post Image Pluggin does or if it is standard to the WP core, but just more info to consider. * As I have mentioned, my dedicated server does not seem to be creating a thumb file. So I manually created a thumb for an associated post and added the “thumbnail” sub-extension, i.e., changing “imagename.jpg” to “imagename.thumbnail.jpg”. Set to TRUE (1) to use thumbnail image. Default is FALSE (0).”” * In my CSS I have the image size set to display @ 100x100px, while the original file size is 300x300px. So this actually could be set as a temporary fix, but I am still looking at unnecessary file sizes for the excerpt pages. * There appears to be some sort of a setting I am missing which creates the thumbs and allows them to interact with the post. I tried taking away the option for displaying the default, and it still didn’t pull an image from a post. * I’m baffled on this one once again, especially since I found a working solution before. I am near tempted to re-install WordPress… I was hoping to avoid this, but I don’t know what else to do. When ever I upload a file and use it in the same associated new post, it seems to work with the post-image pluggin, and the image displays in the post excerpt. * Now when I try to use an image that has been previously uploaded for another post. The image inside the post doesn’t show up in the post excerpt. * I am getting ready to downgrade to an older version of wordpress to see how it handles. Thank goodness I downgraded my testing server and I am still operating on 2.1 on my dedicated server, which is where the live site will be. * At this point I will just have to ask all of my contributors to not use image files already located on the server, or else the default image will display. There seems to be an issue with the plugin reading the images that are located in the posts if the images have been uploaded previously.
