Post with 100,000 words load slowly.

    I’m an author, and I decided to open a site where I can put my stories. I’m using Aesop story engine to post all the chapters. This story of mine has 56 chapters, 100,000+ words.

    Every time I go to that post, it loads slowly. I don’t know what’s wrong. I’ve tried installing minify, wp3 cache, etc. and it still doesn’t work.

    I have no idea how large that post is (I won’t click on links from someone’s first post), but at 100K+ words, it must be at least a few megabytes. It will take a significant amount of time to download and render such a large post in a browser. It will also take a significant amount of time for WordPress to format the post for display. Just thinking about what it would take to format shortcodes in such a large post makes me cringe!

    Have you tried doing any searches on your site? Without a fulltext index to deal with that post, I cannot imagine how long one would take…

    I’d suggest breaking up the one large post into 56 posts, one for each chapter.

    @diondesigns: I’ve tried doing some searches.

    Thank you all for the help. I realized that it’s not possible to have 100,000+ words in post. So I decided to split it up.
