  • Are there any actions that need to take place in order to secure a new WordPress installation? With Xoops and Post Nuke there are steps to delete installation directories and/or change permissions on config files. I did not see any in the installation diretions so I assume I do not have these steps with WordPress. Thanks.

  • You shouldn’t need to delete anything after installation.

Developers intend that the wp-content folder be 777 (you may find some argument about that). 755 for other folders is appropriate.

If you want to be really nitpickily safe, you can delete the wp-admin/install.php and upgrade.php files.

If you’re not planning to use the included backup facility, you don’t need to leave the wp-content folder 777, 755 will be fine.
