I’m sure there are already plenty of posts like this one, though searching for them gives me nothing relevant…

I just installed WordPress, and after running install.php, the install guide says I’m done. Now, most other PHP packages tells you to delete the install files after they’ve been processed. My question is, what files are ok to delete after install.php has been run? I assume it’s ok to delete install.php. What about wp-config.php et al? If it is safe to delete these files, I think it should be mentioned in the install guide.

DO NOT delete the config files.
The only files you should delete are install.php and upgrade.php.
