When a tag or category is clicked, the images are seen in thumbnails stacked in a single column.

I would like to have a grid view gallery of images and when the image is clicked, it must lead to the respective post.

Looking for help.

Grid view is only used for the secondary featured posts section in Expound. There’s no easy way to set the whole view to grid. Sorry!

You can use this plugin for display the posts Featured Image in grid view.
Featured Images Widget.

I’ll be happy if in future this option is considered while updating the theme. Thanks once again Konstantin for a wonderful theme.
