I’m having an issue with post ID’s not matching up with the appropriate post and I was hoping someone might have an explanation for the odd behaviour.

Essentially, I’ve got a post on my site, which has an ID of 1561.

I’ve switched comments and pings off for that particular post, but when I actually visit the published page, comments and pings appear to be open.

I go to edit the page by clicking edit this entry, and when I do, rather than being taken to the correct page to edit, I’m actually being taken to post 2012 – I really can’t understand where this issue is coming from, but suffice to say, it’s causing havoc with the site.

Has anyone seen anything similar to this before – basically just seems that the front-end of the site post ID’s just aren’t matching up at all with the back-end.

Any advice would be *massively* appreciated.

    Cheers,

Really could do with some help on this.

    *bump*

This is actually an old question. Since 2.7 (I believe) there is a post revisions function built into WP. When you save a post, it gets ID=1, when you edit it, the revision get ID=2, when you edit is 50 times, you guessed it, ID=52. Oh, and each autosave (another extra feature since 2.7) makes an ID. Each post has it’s revisions (you can see them when you “edit” a post). There are plenty plugins to disable autosave and post revisions.

    You’re a life saver – thank you so much…

I just disabled the revisions and set the autosave interval waaaay higher and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Thank you so much for your help.
