    Hi,
Recently I changed host and after the import was done, I am unable to add a new post. Every time I try to create a new post/page/upload media file, it shows me the following error instead of showing the post editor.

“You are currently editing the page that shows your latest posts”.

Even after logging in as admin, the ‘add new post’ area doesn’t show all the widgets. Instead, the publish button has been replaced with “submit for review” which does nothing when pressed.

In the phpadmin area, I see half of the tables with a Primary key but the rest don’t have one and their rows are also not editable and can’t be deleted. they also show the following error in the top area

“Current selection does not contain a unique column. Grid edit, checkbox, Edit, Copy and Delete features are not available”.

I have also noticed a few rows getting added in different tables automatically with 0 values. When I remove them manually, they reappear.
I don’t have an old copy of the database. The site is working fine with the old data, but I can’t add any new post. I have the latest WordPress version and plugins are updated as well.

    Can someone help?

It sure looks like the database import did not work correctly. Do you still have the old, pre-import database? If so, you might try importing it again. Did you manipulate that database in any way when y you moved hosts? If so, how?

Thank you for the reply. No, I don’t have the old copy. Actually, I was looking for the host, and my bad luck I had to try a host in between before I ended up with the existing one. I have always maintained a copy of the database but this time, I messed up. Something must have happened in between during the migration process. Could there be a way now to fix the problem?

I think your database is corrupt.

Can I export the data from the WordPress export tool, create a fresh WordPress install and import the file again? Can it work?

Probably not, but what do you have to lose at this point?

It got fixed. I was not technical enough to fix the database problem, it was surely corrupt. But fortunately, the old data was safe inside.
I repeatedly re-activated the primary keys and indexes on individual tables but after a few mins, they came back to the original position and the redundant data would come in with ‘0’ values.

So I did the following steps. (it might help someone else)
    1) Removed all plugins and removed extra tables.
    2) exported the existing database as the backup. (i had to import it a number of times during the process to stage 1)
    3) exported tables individually (data only)
    4) created a fresh WordPress install with similar credentials
    5) imported tables one by one.
    6) That’s it.

Yes, you were right, I had nothing to lose. :). By the way, WordPress export tool didn’t work because it was based on the same database that was corrupt.
