It should work fine if the plugin you use supports custom post types.
you can try other wp plugins like jetpack
You can use the RSS-feed from Events Manager and then feed that to both Facebook and Twitter with plugins for those.

There are loads of different apps/plugins for Twitter and Facebook that allows you to take an RSS feed and post it to your account. I’ve used RSS Grafitti for Facebook, but there are others that might be better.
