I already found the solution to this, but did not see another post on this exact matter, so will post what I found to be the answer per adventure someone else runs into the same issue.
I just posted a podcast episode and found that while it displayed properly in the “Podcast” category view, when I clicked on the post to display it in its own page, that page was missing the text describing the post, the thumbnail graphic and the “Play Now” button. There was just a generic graphic representing an audio file and some of the mp3 file metadata was displayed.
I realized that I had created a post in the “Newsletter” category earlier in the day and used the same post title. However, WordPress wisely modified the URL of my later post by adding “-2” to the end of it. After trying a few other things and searching the help forum, I decided to try modifying the URL (in the “Edit Post” window, just below the post title, where it displays the “Permalink,” click the “Edit” button). I deleted the “-2” that WordPress had added and tacked on the name of tonight’s guest after the episode title. The post now displays correctly in all views (http://www.cynthiadavis.net/elections-mitch_hubbard/).
