  • how can i post directly to an archive/ category without the post showing on the front page?

i want to keep an online diary, every day there will be a post BUT it shouldn’t show on the front page, it is only viewable when you click on the category..

i have looked everywhere for an answer here and on the net with no luck…
Any help will be much appreciated…

    ok, i found a solution, thanks anyway…

Would you mind sharing your solution? I’m struggling with the same problem.
    Thanks!

It’s simple – you just need to get the other way around:
Every post is “going” directly to a category, there is nothing to do about it.
What you really want is this: exclude from the main page:
    a) a category or categories
    or
    b) any post = having a static main page

For a) – look for plugins (categtory visibility and alike)
For b) – look around in your own admin panel: Options > Reading.

    hi lisaann,

i solved the problem by using this wonderful plug-in which lets you eaasily set up visibility of posts/ categories etc…

    hope this helps!
