When I changed the name of the post so that it did not match the name of the STORY, the post now shows BUT the story went away. The code for the STORY is still there, and there is a link, but it is no longer embedded.
Is there no way to have both?
@premiumwebsites Thanks for reaching out with your topic. To confirm, you were able to publish the story but you are having an issue with text under the embedded story post, correct?
Are you embedding the Web Stories URL using Gutenberg blocks or another method? Could you please share your Web Stories URL?
If you wish to share your Site Health information privately there may be a conflicting theme/plugin.
As an aside, the Document panel has an Excerpt box that you can write in to do better in search.

Originally it was just the embedded Story created with the plugin. When I added text to the post I expected it to show under the Story. It did not show. I thought it might be a permalink issue so I changed the name of the post and the link – then the text showed but the Story was no longer embedded, but shows as a link. Ideally I would like the Story to be embedded and the text to show under it.
Are you using the embed shortcode or the Gutenberg block? Have you tried removing the block/shortcode from your post and adding it again?
My theme is Avada and they have a builder called Fusion that I use. The post was originally created by the plugin and I added to it to make it a real post.
I just added a screenshot of the Story and made it clickable. Best compromise I can think of. It would be nice to be able to add to the post without breaking the embed.
Good to know you’ve find a workaround. We’ll do some testing with Avada / Fusion in the meantime.
Repeating my earlier question, have you tried removing the screenshot and inserting the embed again to see if it works this time around?
Here’s a shortcode you could use:
[web_stories_embed url="https://premiumwebsites.net/web-stories/hosting-hacked/" title="Hosting Hacked or Website Hacked?" poster="https://u258l02gr6-flywheel.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Designing-Websites-For-People-Who-Change-Live-mobile.jpg" /]
That shortcode put the article into a “story” not the original story. I left it up for you to see.
I did not see a shortcode part of the app. I will look again.
I just adjusted the code and it is working now. Thanks – but where do I generate a shortcode for future posts?
The shortcode is a brand new addition in our current version (1.1.0). We haven’t advertised it much yet.
When you publish a new story and it asks you to create a new post, it will either insert a shortcode or a Gutenberg block, depending on whether you use the Gutenberg block editor or not.
We’ll do some testing to see whether this works as expected when using a page builder like Fusion, but you can of course just use this shortcode directly any time.
thanks – now that I know how to use the plugin I will get to making more Stories and see if I can get the indexed and ranked. If so I will recommend it to my clients.
@premiumwebsites We’re glad it is working and hope you enjoy the Web Stories plugin! We will mark this topic as resolved. Please feel free to open a new support topic if you experience any other issues. Thank you!
