Support » Fixing WordPress » Post Content Erased on Publish (version 3.1.2)

  • Hi There,

Much to my dismay, the content of a post I had spent 40-45 minutes writing was entirely erased upon publishing. And because it was published (I’m assuming), any autosaves that had been kept along the way were erased, making it impossible for me to simply restore the content from one of the autosaves.

That said, let me explain to you some components of my setup that could have caused the issue. First, my location is anonymized — my internet signal is bounced around several hundred relay servers at various locations around the globe. (What can I say, I’m a privacy nut.) Second, I just upgraded (literally, just) to version 3.1.2.

So, I need the help of those of you whose knowledge of the WordPress system and the Web is intimate. I do not want this to happen again — who likes losing work unnecessarily? So here is my question: could my anonymizing of my location have caused this to happen, and if not, then is this a potential bug in version 3.1.2? (Note: I have not been able to regenerate the bug.)

Any help you guru’s can provide would be much appreciated.
