• I have an author on my site who just published a post. Right after that, everything was gone – it just published as a blank page and I can’t find any autosaves or drafts.

I wouldn’t imagine that he would would want to start over from scratch. Could anyone help us out with this?

    Thanks,

    Nick

  • I’d bet on human error but it is possible that you have a database problem or that a plugin (or even the theme) is breaking something. Has this ever happened before?

I’d at least check the tables for errors. Do you have access to PhpMyAdmin or some other tool to poke around the DB? Most people don’t have command line access but that works too. 🙂

I was thinking it was probably up to one of the plugins – I just installed a couple right before he made the post, but have since removed them.

I’m starting to think it’s probably lost forever, but I still want to make sure.

I have access to phpMyAdmin, what commands would you recommend to check things out?

First export (backup) your database, just in case.

There is a chance that PhpMyAdmin will give you a notice about broken tables, but if you want to check them again pick a table, go to the ‘Operations’ tab and look toward the bottom for “Check Table”. There is also a “Repair Table”.

You could search your *_posts table for that lost post if you want. You may be able to find some remnant of it.
