post category specific archives

Hi,

I have a website which has several blog formatted sections, each with post categories unique to that specific blog. For instance, the blog pulling from the ‘blog’ category, and In The News pulling from the ‘in-the-news’ category.

The default WP Archive can show up in the sidebar but it of course will show all posts and break them down by month and year as such. I’ve seen ways to have a specific category excluded from the blog archive.

However, what I want to do is have separate archives in the sidebar of the posts for each blog type, so blog posts show only an archive for the blog category, and the in the news posts show only an archive for in the news in their respective sidebars on the posts.

Is there a plug in for this that’s current?

If not how should I start going about making this work?
