Post Carousel 1.17.6 no scrolling

    Hello team

    I have updated Post Carousel to version 1.17.6 and the controls for scrolling in the PC view have disappeared and it is not possible to scroll, on mobile devices they do not appear but it can be scrolled by doing a wipe. Neither are the posts opened in a new page / tab even if it is activated, they always open in the same window.

    Examining the code appears

    It seems that the display: none style is applied after loading the page with a script because before finishing they do appear. I only have 6 posts … but before the update everything worked correctly.

    Thanks for reaching out.

    This sounds like it might be a JavaScript issue. If the open the browser console you’ll probably find an error or errors. You can try to diagnose the issue via the console or you could switch to Twenty Twenty, deactivate all other plugins and check to see if you’ve found a working baseline. If a working baseline is available, reactivate your theme and then plugins until the issue reoccurs.

    Thanks for yuor quickly response.

    Using your link above:
    Step 1: I have verified that I get the same issue in any browser
    Step 2: I have activated the option define ('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true); in wp-config.php
    And I get several errors and warnings in the console log … in Chrome I have disabled the active extensions (Augury, React, Trend Micro …) and the errors have disappeared … leaving the following warnings and debugging messages script:

    The theme used is free vue and it does not seem that there is a specific combination of activated / deactivated plugins that, together with the posts carousel widget, causes the issue.

    I have noticed something curious that may be of interest, the current widget configuration is:
    – Featured Image Size: Sow Carousel Default (272×182)
    – Link destination: New window
    – Loop posts: Checked
    – Consultation of publications: (6 -> all current publications)
    – Type of publication: Publications
    – Type of date selection: Specific
    – Dates: Not setted (it is optional)
    – Sticky posts: ignore sticky posts

    I have tried many combinations in the widget settings and the issue keeps occurring.

    If in Dashboard > Plugins > Site Source Widgets I disable the Posts carousel widget … I can still see the posts in the carousel … but only the text of the posts, without the images, and scrolling controls appear and work correctly; when activating the posts carousel widget again, the issue occurs again.

    There isn’t a distinct error I can see in the console logs.

    There isn’t anything that I can see in the Carousel settings that should cause this issue. The results when deactivating the widget are expected.

    Baseline
    Are you able to establish a working baseline, does the issue resolve with Twenty Twenty theme and only SiteOrigin plugins activated?

    jQuery Migrate
    If you install https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/, are warnings produced?

    I’ve just seen the following warning after installing jQuery Migrate and visiting the dashboard:

    Hi, thanks for the feedback. We’ve resolved this warning here https://github.com/siteorigin/so-widgets-bundle/pull/1129. As far as I’m aware, this warning only impacts the Plugins > SiteOrigin Widgets page. It’ll be removed in the next Widgets Bundle update.

    Are you able to establish a working baseline, does the carousel issue resolve with Twenty Twenty theme and only SiteOrigin plugins activated?

    … If I deactivate Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin still the issue occurs …

    … and I deactivate Page Builder by SiteOrigin plugin … it’s works again!

    I think I have managed to establish the baseline correctly … only with the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin and Page Builder by SiteOrigin plugin activated, the issue described already occurs.

    What steps do we take next? What additional information can I provide?

    That’s an unexpected result, I’m not quite sure what the reason is. You can see the latest Page Builder and Widgets Bundle in use here with a carousel on the page near the bottom.

    As far as I’m aware the jQuery.fn.load() warning from Page Builder shouldn’t be an issue. That said, you can try a beta version of Page Builder with that problem resolved. I’ve uploaded a copy here. To make use of this version, go to Plugins, deactivate and delete Page Builder, next, install the ZIP file from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.

    Are you able to share a public link to a page where we can view the issue?

    I have verified that if I disable the display: none; style of the sow-carousel-navigation element (using browser tools, Chrome) and then modify the page size … the display: none; style is reapplied.

    This makes me think that instead of a JavaScript issue, it could be CSS related, specifically device selection and screen size. Remember that scrolling works well for mobile devices and the scroll controls are not visible (these controls must be hidden).

    So … is it possible that I have activated some configuration in my WordPress that makes the browser recognize it as a mobile device?

    To see the published website, I must request authorization from the project’s owner. I commented in the first post that it is a beta version; However, I thank you very much for your interest and I am taking the necessary steps to do so.

    Anyway, I’m going to test the Page Builder plugin beta version and share the results.

    Hi Andrew,

    It’s been hard … but I did it !!

    Before creating the issue in the link you sent me, I will tell you what I have discovered, if you can reproduce the problem in your own wordpress (I hope so!) We will have discovered the problem.

    If I create a row and include a Post Carousel Widget, then if the amount of news in the query sets it to be scrollable, the scroll controls appear … as in my case there are only 2, then the scroll controls DO NOT appear. .. Everything is correct … but if we then put another Post Carousel Widget, the scroll controls DO NOT appear even though the number of posts does force it.

    Specifically, two Post Carousel Widget in a row (first, 2 posts) and another (second, 9 posts), if the first post’s carousel widget shouldn’t show the scroll controls then they don’t show on both … but if we reverse the order, the scroll controls appear in all of them (although they should not appear)

    In summary, if there is more than one Post Carousel Widget and the scroll controls should not appear in the first one, the controls no longer appear in the rest of the Post Carousel Widget that follow, it also happens that, if the controls appear in the first widget Post Carousel appears in the rest of the Post Carousel widget, although it should not appear in some. All of this is true regardless of the position of the post carousel widget on the page.

    Additionally, this is a different topic, even if you specify that the posts open in a new window … they open in the same window.
