do you guys see the right side, the one with the recent posts?
I’d like that same effect on the site I am developing for a client (www.dessertcomesfirst.com).
In the sidebar, I am currently using WP’s get_archive() function set to post by post. There are a few plugins that allow me to put thumbnails on my posts but this requires me to put another of WP’s ‘Loop’ in the page. This would look ok in the site’s index page, but when it’s used in other pages in the site (pages and posts), the links under the recent post will display only the link of the page that is currently in view.
There are a few plugins that will support archive icons, but it is just limited to catrgory archives and I want post by post archives. I was wondering if there is any work around or any plugin available to us that could solve this?
fyi, if the site is going to be updated reasonably-slowly (not more than a few posts per day), there are solutions around using the RSS feed, which then give you a cached/static list, rather than dynamically recalcing every time the sidebar is generated.
If you had custom icons for the rss feed (haven’t looked into that…), you could have just the icon and title output for each feed item in the sidebar. I haven’t done this exact thing, but I’ve done variations on it. 😉
