Post background for image scroller?

Hello,

I’m building a site at the moment that requires a scrolling image area on the homepage. I’ve set up a category in posts so that if any belong to the ‘scroller’ category, they appear at the top of the custom homepage. This works great, the post text etc appears in the scroller, and the Jake Weary scrolls through the list of posts. Now all I need to do is have a background image under the post.

So what I need is a plugin or a way of associating an image from the gallery with a particular post at the point it is created and then for that image to be set as an inline style on my custom homepage.

Does anyone know of a plugin that will provide this functionality or of a way of setting this up?
