Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Possible topreauthorize credit card charges, but change order total and capture?

I need to allow customers to place an order and have their credit card preauthorized for the initial amount. Then, if I need to add shipping charges or add more products or fees to the order, capture the new total amount, rather than the original preauthorized amount. Woocommerce is set up to allow editing of orders like this, but Square will not process the new updated total. Are there any other payment processors that will do this and allow capture of the updated order amounts? Or is there some way to run a new authorization on a previously authorized order?

    Thanks!

    Hi @afemaleprodigy,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

This is not something that payment processors will do. By pre-authorizing a specific amount, the customer has agreed to pay that specific amount during the purchase, so you will not be able to charge them more than that.

Said that, you can consult a web developer and see if a custom function could be implemented within WooCommerce. If you would like to investigate that possibility further, you could reach out to some of the official WooCommerce development partners via this link – https://woocommerce.com/customizations/

    Thanks.
