possible to copy plugins?

    After upgrading my PC from WinXP to Win7… I decided to install the latest version of WordPress (Bitnami)… and I would like to use plugins from the previous install in the new one. Both the old and new versions of WP are “local host” installs at this point.

    Is it possible to copy plugins from the old plugins folder and place them in the new one… or do they have to be “installed” from scratch in order to work properly.

    Also what about copying Child Themes?

    I searched for answers on this but kept getting answers regarding other plugins for moving things instead of whether existing plugs can be copied.
