Support » Plugin: Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth » Possible to change the animation used with gallery slideshows?

  • Resolved Q

Currently, the Jetpack gallery lightbox uses a slide animation to navigate between images. Is there any way to change this to a fade animation with a fast speed?

    Hi there

Slide is currently the only option for Jetpack’s Carousel. You’d need to write some custom code if you wanted to change that to a fade animation instead.

Sorry I can’t be more help here.

Great, I’d like to write some custom code. I reviewed the Jetpack documentation but didn’t see any hooks for overriding carousel behavior. Could you give me a clue what kind of custom code can change that animation?

    Hello @quinncom

I’m afraid this is beyond the scope of the support we can offer here. You may want to consider hiring someone so that you can give them direct access to the site for far more efficient customization than we can provide here.

Here you can find information about Carousel and filters that could be used to customize block:

    Thanks Michelle,

I’ve reviewed the links you sent but can’t find the documentation for customizing the carousel functionality. I’ve been a full-stack WP developer for 16 years, I should be able to do it myself; I just expected some hints from the community where to get started.

    Hi @quinncom,

Thank you for your understanding. As this is our plugin support, we can only help with issues covered by the scope of our support.

Please note that theme and plugin authors have filters and actions they can hook into to force activate, customize and extend the Carousel if they wish, such as jp_carousel_force_enable, jp_carousel_enqueue_assets, etc. This is noted under the FAQ section at the end of the Carousel documentation @deathlynotes linked:

    My best regards,
