Is it possible to vary how many sidebars appear on a page vs a post?

I discovered a conflict in the text of one of the widgets I need and the JS used for Lightbox functionality. I’ve moved it to the second sidebar, and would like to have both sidebars appear on pages, and only one sidebar appear on posts.

    Is that possible?

  • The easiest way for you to achieve this is probably to install a plugin that allows you to control what pages/posts your sidebars appear on.

An example of such a plugin is Display Widgets: http://wordpress.org/plugins/display-widgets/

You can install and activate this plugin, then go to Appearance->Widgets in your dashboard area. When you expand each widget you will then be able to select which pages of your site it does or does not appear on via a check list.

Not to be overly emotive, but…

Thank you so much! I know a little HTML and CSS, but nothing about PHP. I’ve been rooting around for days trying to figure out how to do conditional text, blah blah blah. You just saved me so much stress!

Ahaha.. You’re very welcome. I’m glad it helped! 🙂
