Hey Lisa.
If you could share a URL to one of the affected sites and let me know which links you are referring to, I might be able to dig in a bit more.
Thanks,
Andy
Hi Andy,
We’ve actually rolled back to a prior version of The Events Calendar so that the links function again. I just know that others are experiencing the broken links issue again, and I wanted to share an observation my team made in hopes that it might help.
Lisa
Lisa,
Is the issue from The Events Calendar plugin or The Events Calendar Category Colors plugin?
While I do appreciate the error report there simply isn’t enough information presented to look into it.
I need to know which links you are referring to and it would help to see and example of the problem.
Andy
BTW, I’m the developer of the Category Colors plugin.

Ah, gotcha. Well, as I said, I rolled the Events Calendar plugin back to a previous version, so I’m not sure what you’ll see or not see. You will not see events that don’t link from the calendar to the actual event pages, which is the crux of the problem.
A site of ours that uses both The Events Calendar and the Category Colors plugin would be https://danvillepubliclibrary.org/events/.
A site that only uses The Events Calendar would be https://champaignparks.com/events/.
As the Category Colors plugin doesn’t really make links and reverting the Events Calendar plugin solves the issue, we can probably assume the issue is in TEC.
Hi there @lisathirdsideco and @afragen 🙂
Thank you so much for all this feedback!
A test that I’d suggest is to keep Events Calendar on latest version and temporary deactivate Category Colors Plugin
While using latest version of Events Calendar, can you let me know if your using old or new views @lisathirdsideco ?
Wish an amazing day for you two!
Hi Deblyn,
We are continuing to use the old views, as the new views do not integrate the category colors our client likes.
Thanks,
Lisa
Lisa,
I have specifically updated Category Colors to work with the new views where I was able. If something specific isn’t working I would appreciate knowing.
Andy
It looks like when I updated the non-Pro version of The Events Calendar, it wiped out the category color values entirely, which is probably why they didn’t display. I’m working on re-adding them now.
AFAIK, I’m using the current version of Category Colors (6.4.7).
After I made sure everything was updated (TEC, TEC Pro, and Category Colors), and updated the displays, the colors returned. But when I clicked on the individual event links in the calendar (either list or grid), I still don’t get the actual post for the specific event. It just displays the calendar again. This is a major function of my client’s website, so I had to roll back to a previous backup.
Lisa, my test site is at https://tribe.thefragens.net, can you replicate the issue here?

No. This is what I would have expected. But what happened on my site after everything was updated was that clicking on an event link basically just re-drew the calendar grid, with no event-specific information beneath.

If it’s relevant, the site is built on the Genesis framework. Also, everything was fine when we updated TEC to 5.0.0.1 (as in, it resolved the linking issue). But the linking issue reappeared with 5.0.0.2.
Which event link are you referring to?
Event link in month calendar grid?
Category link in legend?
I had selected the VITA Tax Preparation event scheduled for Feb. 15. I had clicked the event link in the month calendar grid.
Lisa, I really need to see a site that displays your issue to go further.
