In standard worpdpress form you managed to do it easily – I can add tags with keyboard fast.
But all purpose for your theme (for me) is to use batch upload/edit form. And there are not fast option to add Tags. So if I come to upload new images – I always need to go back to “Tags” page, enter tags there, then come back to “Add new” page and only then I can use them.

Would be great just implement “Add New Tag” to your “Media: Add new” form.

Thanks for your suggestion and for the screenshot link; very helpful.

The “Standard WordPress Media Form” in your screenshot is actually an MLA enhancement; WordPress does not support taxonomies for Media Library items. I modeled the metabox on the Media/Edit Media screen (and the Add Media ATTACHMENT DETAILS pane) after those WordPress provides for Posts and Pages and added the “? Search” feature not found in WordPress.

I also modeled the taxonomy elements in the Media/Assistant Bulk Edit Areas and the Media/Upload New Media screens after the features WordPress provides in the Bulk Edit Area for Posts and Pages. As you can see there, adding terms to a hierarchical taxonomy is not supported. You can, however, add a new term to the Tags taxonomy by simply entering it in the text box provided for flat taxonomies.

It looks like you have taken advantage of another MLA enhancement, “Checklist-style flat taxonomies” to change the way Tags are supported on the Upload New Media screen. If you go back to the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab and uncheck the “Checklist” box for the Tags taxonomy you can use enter new terms without any problems.

I will have a look at the effort required to enhance the checklist-style taxonomy boxes on the Bulk Edit and Upload Media areas. However, I have very limited time available to work on the plugin and I cannot promise any new features in the immediate future.

I will leave this topic unresolved until I make a final decision on whether to proceed. Thanks for your patience, understanding and for your interest in the plugin..

Thanks for detailed info. My issues is fixed. I did not realize that unchecking checkbox from setting will still let me use tags, but I will need to type them with hand (that is what I actually want on Upload images form)

    So I just made:
    uncheck “Checklist” option for “Tags”
And now it works as I wanted, thanks.

Thanks for your update with the good news that the “standard” handling for flat taxonomies like Tags will work for you.

I am marking this topic resolved, but I will continue to see whether enhancing MLA’s handling of “checklist-style” taxonomies is feasible. I’ll post an update here if I have progress to report.
