position a "Read More" link that omits all content after the shortcode?

I am building a site at the moment and the client has decides taht they don’t want ALL the EVENT’s info on the drop down, but rather after teh READ MORE link is clicked.

Unfortunately I clicking the READ MORE within the editor does nothing…

pls help????
