  • Hi Mike,

I’ve had a look at one of your images and exif orientation looks right. If you’re using Windows, try downloading Irfanview and see if saving the images with the right orientation solves the problem.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Robhob:
Thanks for the info, downloaded Irfanview and rearranged the images in my back up folders, deleted the old ones from the media gallery, uploaded the new ones and posted to http://www.briggsaway.co.uk/?p=291 as a start, unfortunately the images are still incorrect.
Any further ideas would be welcome
    Cheers

    Hi Mike,

I just tried using the rotate tool that WP offers after uploading images to your Media (click on “edit” below image). Have you tried that? It works for me!

    Hope that works,

    Scott

    Thanks newtonentropy.
When in both gallery and edit modes (both edit images and edit page/blog) the images are the right way round, its only when the page/blog is updated/ published that the images show incorrectly.
    It is becoming really frustrating.

Would it be reasonable to try and rotate the image to an incorrect orientation, then hope that when posted its re orientated correctly???
Seems bizarre at the very least

    2nd Edit
Tried the above operation and guess what, it didn’t work, they stayed as they were edited (on their side), however, when re rotated back to the correct orientation during the reedit, they are now staying correctly orientated.
    WHAT??

Thanks to all, I think I have it cracked. Using the WordPress editor, if I edit the images (in the media library) in question by rotating one way (anyway it doesn’t matter) and save, then re-edit, rotating to the required orientation, save again, then replace the image in the blog/page with the edited one from the media library, all seems to work out correctly on the published page.
Seems bizarre but there it is a solution.
    Regards
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    A few thoughts:
    1. Does it only happen to photos take with the Samsung S5?
    2. What plugins do you have installed?
    3. Do you have Photon enabled in Jetpack?

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Thanks for the reply Rob

    Hi Mike,

Trying removing the EXIF data from your photos before you upload them to your site. Looks like some folk have the same problem as you with photos taken with mobile phones.

Irfanview can be used to remove EXIF data. Have a look at this thread for more info: https://irfanview-forum.de/showthread.php?t=8989

    Hope this helps,

    Rob
