• Hi,

I’m currently thinking of the design of my portfolio website and I would like to know what is the best between these two choices :

    1. When clicking on a work, it goes on a different page with work description and making-off image.

    2. When clicking on a work, it stay on the same page, but a kind of lightbox open with a picture and a small description of the work.

So what’s the best for a portfolio?

Also, I’m thinking to add a couple of photography on my website, so I don’t know if I should put my photos on another page or on the same page as my works?

    Thank you

  • I suggest you go with option 1 (clicking and going to a new page), for the following reasons:

    • Better display on mobile. Lightboxes frequently look terrible on phones
    • Some lightbox plugins will load all of the images into the page before they are displayed, which will make your page slower to load if you have more than a couple of pieces in your portfolio
    • Better SEO. If you are trying to use your portfolio to attract work, making each item an individual page will get you better mileage from search engines than putting everything into one page.
