• The Portfolio Pictures I uploaded take a very long time to load. It says “Loading portfolio items…” for up to 30sek.
I have a lot of product pictures, so there will be at least 100 pictures total! I don’t know how to fix it, the picture size is already down to 1280 × 853 pixels, or is that still to much?
I also tried to go from infinite scroll to pagination and tried different numbers/colums of pictures per page. It seems to be better with something like 8 pics and 4 colums per page.

If someone could help me with my problem, that would be amazing!

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

Are you using Jetpack? if so i recommend using the feature ‘Photon‘, look for Photon in the list of settings after activiating Jetpack.

Also you could experiment with some caching plugins, WP Super Cache – Automattic is a contributor so ya know it will work well, its worked well for me.

100 images on a single page are too much. This basically means 100+ HTTP requests on every page load. Your website will be painfully slow.

Also, I think the image dimensions are not as relevant as the image size. An image with dimensions 1280 × 853 pixels might be a few 100 KBs in size or several MBs, depending on format and quality.

Here are some things you can try:

    – Convert your images to JPEG and reduce the quality a little. This can be done online with a tool like Pixlr.

    – Install the SmushIt plugin on your website and run your images through the Bulk SmushIt tool.

    – Try to reduce the number of images on a single page.
