  • I am new to wordpress, fianlly inpisred to get myself a webiste as a means of promoting my services to potential clients. I want to have a ‘portfolio’ page on my wordpress blog. Someting that displays thumbnails, ans then with a click gives you a full screen image wiht some copy below. I have searched extensively but as yet, I have not managed to find the code/plugin that will enable this function. Is it possible?, or am I barking up the wrong tree??

If you can help/advise me any help much appreciated.

  • I’m not sure about WordPress plugins that would do this but maybe Thickbox is what you are looking for. Check out the examples to give you an idea of what it can do.

It’s well documented and is being maintained by the vibrant jQuery community so you should be in good hands if you decide it will do the trick.

You should be able to do this with WP “out of the box”, so to speak. From the WP admin section:

“Pages are like posts except they live outside of the normal blog chronology and can be hierarchical. You can use pages to organize and manage any amount of content.”

Your main portfolio page with the thumbnails is simply a “parent page” for each other “child” page with the main image and text.

Thanks for that, will invesitgate a bit more fully. Had a quick glance at the relevant pages and they looked just the job. Not sure how I how actually implement them, but that’s another story or maybe a post!

Once again, thanks for all your help
