you want to create portfolio lists or page or menu link?
for lists find the [tx] button for shortcode
for page add the item from dashboard
for menu link to an item, add the item in menu from appearance > menu
I want to create a page that looks like the demo here: http://templatesnext.org/itrans/portfolio/
with the images arranged so that on hover, the visitor has the option to either see the image large, or click through to see the article. Actually I prefer the lower example labelled Masonary, with 2 rows of 4 pics each. Any help greatly appreciated
you will have to create the portfolio items and insert the desired shortcode from [tx] button in editor.

I have two categories in my portfolios but I want to have two pages for my portfolios.
first page ==> portfolios with one category
second page ==> portfolios with the seconde category
