I run my site with jetpack and use the portfolio option for showcasing my work. Recently I do have issues with jetpack, the dashboard goes white, it cannot connect to Facebook and other issues… So, I followed the recommended steps, deactivating other plugins and jetpack and disconnecting jetpack completely. Whenever I touch anything to to with jetpack, my portfolio disappears. Completely. All my works erased. So I do have to go to my web provider and restore from a backup… To restore my portfolio. Is there another option, less painstaking? I had to do this 3 times in a month, which means having to add manually all new blog entries…
No my site works, as I cannot afford to have my works not shown up…
But jetpack is visually inaccessible. Inside wordpress, jetpack dashboard goes blank. I cannot use publicize settings or change anything within the confirguration.

Please do not tell me to disconnect jetpack, this will break everything again…. I just want to know if there is a possible long-term soultion or if I’m better of getting rid of jetpack portfolio and rebuilt my site…
    Thanks

Hi, it makes sense that the portfolio needs Jetpack since it’s one of its features. Have you tried reinstalling Jetpack yet to see whether that fixes the blank page issues?

    Other things you can try:

    – Check to see if it works in a different browser (if it does it could be a browser setting or extension blocking the Jetpack page)

    – View your browser’s console to see if there are errors there

    – Ask your host for help viewing error logs to see if anything comes up at the same time as the blank screen

    Thanks for your reply

I re-installed jetpack last week and I hoped I can avoid to do it again. Because I have no time to re-make my portfolios over and over again, if I restore from a server backup I will get into an endless loop, it won’t solve the issue, at least it hasn’t done so far. That’s why I’m thinking of getting rid of jetpack at all… It might be the same amount of time spent redoing the structure of the web and using pages or posts instead of portfolios.

I tried different browsers, on mac and Android, the issue persists.

I think it’s a jetpack problem… It keeps on having issues with my site
When I go to https://wordpress.com/stats/day/karlakracht.com I can view all the stats and settings, but an alert pops up that says “Something went wrong.
Visit site admin”. And this again leads me to the blank screen.

On the left side menu next to my url it says “This site cannot be accessed.
    Remove Site”

Does this information give you more clues for hopefully a softer way of fixing this issue?

    Thanks 😉

    Hi there,

Whenever I touch anything to to with jetpack, my portfolio disappears. Completely. All my works erased.

Deactivating Jetpack should not erase your portfolio projects. It disables the portfolio custom post type on the site, but it does not erase those entries from the database, and the projects should still be there the moment you reconnect. If projects are being erased from your site every time you disconnect Jetpack then something else on your site is doing it. Are you perhaps using any plugins that automatically erase database tables if the plugins that created them are removed from the site?

This is not a problem with Jetpack, but with Jetpack’s connection to your server.

The debugger at https://jetpack.com/support/debug/?url=https://www.karlakracht.com/ indicates that Jetpack in unable to XML-RPC requests to your site, and I also cannot load the XML-RPC file itself at https://www.karlakracht.com/xmlrpc.php. That could be because XML-RPC is switched off or being blocked at your host, or a security plugin on your site could be blocking it. Without that access Jetpack cannot work correctly, so please contact your host and make sure that’s enabled.

If I try to load your site I also only get to a Cloudflare error page, so the issue here could be a problem with your setup over there – if Cloudflare is not allowing me to simply view your page in my browser, it’s a safe assumption that it’s also not allowing Jetpack to access the site via XML-RPC, so also contact support at Cloudflare to make sure everything is set up properly on their end.

    Hi

After a lot of errors, trials and more erros it seems to work now.
I removed cloudflare completely from my site.
    Now https://www.karlakracht.com/xmlrpc.php works.
I removed jetpack from my site.
I disabled jetpack plugin in wordpress, so I did with WP Cache and Smush and wordfence security.
I enabled jetpack plugin and for first time in weeks i could see the jetpack dashboard. from here i setup the whole thing.
My portfolio is not a jetpack portfolio. It started working when disconnecting jetpack.
    And keeps working now.

If portfolio projects created with a different plugin disappear when you disable Jetpack, the problem is likely a conflict between your portfolio plugin and Jetpack. Make sure you don’t switch on Jetpack’s portfolio feature, and that shouldn’t cause any more issues.
