• The port number is showing in the url in wp-admin. e.g. http://www.mysite.com:portnumber/wp-admin. I’m not sure why it’s there and I can’t seem to get rid of it. This is not happening on my local install, just on the live server. The entire site works fine, but when you go to admin, it shows the port number. When you remove the port number, you can then navigation through admin without it coming back, but then when you close the browser and reopen it, there it is again. I’m a little stumped. I’ve looked through the database and the urls are correct.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

  • Have you spoken to your hosts about this?

I haven’t. I got the feeling it was a wordpress thing since it only happens in wp-admin. Should I talk to my host?

Yes. I think a hosting/server redirection issue has to be ruled out as a factor. In the meantime, try deactivating all plugins top see if that helps. Also, what’s in your root WordPress .htaccess file and your wp-admin .htaccess file (if it exists)?

Is it possible that my “redirect_to=” in the log in url is just incorrect? It contains the port number. Not real sure how that is generated… Could that be the problem, or maybe just a symptom of a larger problem?

Impossible to say at this stage. In theory, WP creates the wp-admin redirection url from WordPress (home) Url IIRC.
