Popup only showing intermittently

    Hi. I’ve got your plugin installed on a client’s website, to show a discount code for their store when someone first visits their site, as well as a newsletter sign up form.

    I’m noticing with the popup that it is only showing intermittently. I have set the trigger to auto-open after 500ms, with the conditions being on the homepage and all pages.

    When I try to load the website, either having erased cookies and site data from the browser, or using the browser’s incognito window to negate them, the popup sometimes appears and sometimes it doesn’t.

    Is there a reason why this might be the case? Is there anything I can do to ensure that the popup will always appear in the following cases: the user is new to the site; the user has cleared their cookies and site data; the user is in an incognito browser window?

    Incase you need to know, the website does use the autoptimize caching plugin, which I ensure is regularly emptied.

    Thank you for reaching out!

    I checked the site where the popup is displaying. I saw that popup #6663 has a cookie event (On Popup Close and Form submission). I tried to replicate the issue, but the popup displays properly on my end. It seems the issue is isolated in your end.

    Could you please check this article to help you fix the issue? Please see it here.

    Please note that the Cookie event controls the repeated display of the popup. Clearing the cookies in the browser or if the cookie time expires, it will re-display the popup.

    In your case, since you want the following:
    – the user is new to the site
    – the user has cleared their cookies and site data
    – the user is in an incognito browser window
    a cookie event is needed to control the display of the popup.

    Thanks for your feedback and the information you have provided. It does seem a rather unusual scenario. Based on the image you shared with me, I have modified the triggers to look more like that.

    I’ll keep monitoring it over the next few days or so to see if the behaviour changes on my end and I will let you know. As it happens, the pop has has 80 to 90 views according to the counter, which to me says that it is being seen by visitors a fair amount of the time.
