[resolved] Populated Dropdown Lists (11 posts)

    Hi Folks,

I've been searching for someone or something that may be able to help me with this for some time now.

I'm in need of either a plugin, or a hack that will allow for 3 dropdown menus to be dynamically populated based on the selection chosen in the previous dropdown menu.

    This would consist of:

    Menu 1: Category
    Menu 2: Sub- Category
Menu 3: List of posts in Sub-Category

Basically, something like a "Year, Make, Model" dropdown list.

Anyone have any ideas or places I can look for some help?

I'm not aware of any hack for this, but have developed that for a non-WP site a few years ago. Ajax comes to mind, maybe JQuery would be helpful too.
    That site provides examples :

Yeah, I had looked at that site, but nothing on there is what I'm looking for.

Menu 1 would be pre populated with categories.

Menu 2 would list the sub categories of menu 1 based on the user selection.

Menu 3 would list the posts in the sub category chosen in menu 2.

I get the idea and have no doubt it can be done with Ajax but it may require to get down-and-dirty in code ;-)

Yup, thats what I'm looking for, just have no idea where to begin!

Any idea where I might find a good tutorial on implementing that into wordpress?

    Thanks netagence!

Hi Steffen, I had looked at that one previously, but I keep getting errors trying to use it. Based on how it sounds, it would be perfect for me, but it just doesnt seem to work.

I'm using WP version 3.0.5, and not sure if the plugin is compatible with it. Have you tried it out yet?

Actually, with a little bit of tweaking, I managed to get that plugin working.

    Thanks to both of you!

    Hi there.

No, I haven't had a change to try it out yet.
Just read the notes and I thought it sounded good.

What kind of tweaks did you do to make it work?
Maby I can get back to you, if I run into trouble...?

@Steffen the link you shared doesn't work anymore, do you have any other place to find it?
