Popularity Plugin vs Super Cache

  • I am noticing that my Popularity Contest plug-in is not being updated and was wondering if this is due to the Super-Cache. It states on Alex King’s plugin page that it may not work with cache plugins so I wanted to post here and ask

  • That’s right. You’ll have to disable at least the super cache part of wp-super-cache because Alex’s plugin needs to run php every time a request is made.

Okay, I disabled the WP-super cache but it is not refreshing my popularity contest figures, what can I do?

Clear the cache folder or remove the .htaccess rules.

Okay, I am trying to locate the best information available in the wp forum for these two options,

    1) Clear the cache folder

    2) remove the .htaccess rules

There is just way too many threads on wp forum, can you help point me in the right direction as to how to perform either action.

On side note, I am not sure if the cache folder you mean is the wp cache folder or the broswer cache folder or the plugin cache folder. 😉

Edit a file called .htaccess and remove the lines that refer to wp-content/cache/supercache/ – they start with RewriteCond and RewriteRule.

Or you can just delete that file and go to Options->Permalinks and recreate the rewrite rules.

The cache folder is wp-content/cache/ – it’s probably easiest if you enable the super cache plugin again and click the “Delete Cache” button..
