For the last few weeks, the WordPress Popular Posts has been showing stats for a random collection of articles that are NOT my most popular posts. Although I am only guessing, it seems to be only showing the posts that I have visited and is ignoring the actual traffic to the site.

I’ve tried various settings, including logging views from Visitors only, Disabling Data Sampling (although it keeps turning itself back on), reducing the sample rate to as low as 1, purging the cache, etc. Nothing seems to help.

I have about 3,000 visitors a day, so I’m at a total loss at this point about what could be causing it to ignore the vast majority of the traffic to the most popular posts and randomly picking ones that I have looked at or edited recently.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @artandhome,

    Thanks for the debug info.

I see that you’re using WooCommerce on your website. There seems to be an issue with WC that prevents WordPress Popular Posts from tracking views under certain conditions (see here for more: popular-posts returns error 403 and rest_cookie_invalid_nonce code in json) which would explain the problem you’re having now.

Oh, and about this: chances are your current hosting provider (GoDaddy?) is enabling this feature automatically for you. If so then there’s no way you can set it to Disabled.

Took long enough but today finally the WC team released a new version of the WooCommerce plugin that should fix the issue you were having. Please make sure to update WooCommerce to the latest version and if you’re still having issues afterwards leave a comment below.
