Poppins Google Font – 400 weight is always italic
-
When I use the plugin to load the Poppins Google Font on any website, the 400 weight regular always displays as the italic version.
I have tried on 2 websites now with the same result.
Tested with Roboto and the font displays correctly at all weights.

Hi @shaunbowen,
I have tested the font on my end, and it seems to be working fine. Refer to this screencast, please.
Can you please share the complete URL of the website with the issue still replicable? Also, let me know if I missed anything.
Kind regards,
Aradhy πHi Aradhy, I think maybe it was a temporary issue with Google’s API, as I tried it on a new website today and it displayed correctly. I will mark this as ‘Solved’.
Hi @shaunbowen,
Thank you for the update!
Iβm glad to know that the issue is resolved now. Donβt hesitate to reach out if you need any further assistance in the future.
Kind regards,
Aradhy πUnfortunately this doesn’t seem to be resolved and it affects other fonts too.
Every time I try installing a new Google font (I tried Ubuntu and Lato) the regular weight seems to automatically become italic.
I have tried this on a number of websites using different themes and I get the same result.
My latest test was on a website with the Twenty Thirteen theme.
Sometimes the issue clears by itself after toggling the ‘Preload Fonts’ option on and off again, but not on every site.
Hi @shaunbowen,
Unfortunately, I am still unable to replicate the issue on my end. Can you please share the URL of the page with the font active? This will help us take a closer look at it and assist you better.
Kind regards,
Aradhy πHi Aradhy, please have a look at this temporary version of a website where I have installed the Ubuntu Google Font:
As you can see, anywhere the font has the weight of 400 it is showing as italic.
Hi @shaunbowen,
In that case, it will be better if you can reach out to us through our Support Portal, so we can have a closer look at your site. Also, we respond faster there.
Once you open a ticket, please mark this thread as
Resolved.Kind regards,
Aradhy πHi @bsfaradhy I have emailed via your link, although this plugin was not listed, so I had to use the form that explicitly says ‘Please do not submit support requests through this form.’ !
Once I get a response from there I can mark this as resolved
Hi @shaunbowen,
I can see that we have received your ticket and also replied back to it, requesting details. Since it is open now, it would be best to continue the conversation there itself.
Hope this answers your query.
Kind regards,
Aradhy πHi @bsfaradhy I have been in conversation with a few people from the Brainstorm Force support team, but they don’t appear to have a great deal of knowledge and are not being much help.
I appreciate that your plugin has been bought out by them now, but since it was programmed by you, perhaps you would be better placed to help me?
Or at least could you liaise with them to help with the support, unless you are no longer involved?
Hi @shaunbowen,
Thanks for your patience, and Iβm really sorry for the hassle here.
Iβve reviewed the ticket, and from what I can see, the team has already shared a possible solution. When you get a chance, could you please take a look and let us know if it helped?
If the issue is still there, feel free to reply and Iβll make sure itβs taken care of.
Kind regards,
Aradhy πHi @bsfaradhy
Sorry, the solution they suggested was to manually upload a TTF version of the font required to the media library then target that with the ‘Local Fonts’ section of your plugin.
This kind of removes the need for your plugin entirely.
I wanted to use your plugin to automatically select from a list of Google Fonts, then install them locally as a .WOFF or .WOFF2 file, without having to source these myself each time for every website.
Please can you have a look yourself and investigate.
Thanks,
ShaunHi @shaunbowen,
I have replied to the ticket with a more detailed response. Please have a look and let us know how it goes for you. Additionally, I would also request you to kindly keep the conversation at one place.
Kind regards,
Aradhy π
