My pop up with popup maker is not showing. I have deactivated every plugin, but still not finding the issue. I have used this plugin for a year with no issues. But last week had font issues after an update. I also had some video responsiveness issues yesterday, and I fixed that by replacing some code in my theme options css folder.

After that, I believe I started to notice the popup was not coming up.

I also tried to install and activate some responsive addons but to no avail. It seems the issues started around that time.

My site is http://www.HittingHomeMinistry.com. Not really sure where to go from here.

    Any help would be appreciated.

@raymond Force – Ok so your theme looks to have been effected by WP 4.5, check this thread for help: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/stopped-working-suddenly-wp-45?replies=25

But you have a bigger issue. I just visited your site for the first time and it acted like I was logged in as you. I got the admin bar with your name on it, links to clear caches, create new posts etc.

If I am getting it so is everyone else. I’ve never seen that, looks like something is forcing your user account to appear as logged in. I can’t access wp-admin as it asks me to log in but that seems very bad.

    Hope that helps.

First off, thanks for your quick replies.

I fixed the other weird issue by replacing my entire caching system. I was hoping the two were connected, but apparently not.

Is there a specific folder or line in my js folders I should be looking for? I cannot seem to duplicate the problem in the link you provided.

i am going to wp-admin, js, then i get lost.

@raymond Force – Sorry for the confusion. The JS error in question is on your home page, not in the admin. I coulnd’t say which file because your scripts are all combined & minified into a single file. You would have to disable caching and such, but my guess would be somewhere in your themes folder like assets/js/main.js or similar.

    Hope that helps.

PS If your caching plugin made that appear it likely isn’t disabling itself for logged in users. Nearly all caching systems disable when users log in, otherwise all users would still see the regular homepage not the one with admin bar, their profile picture in the header, welcome messaging etc.

Okay. I have downloaded the responsive pro theme after deleted the old.

I also deactivated every other plugin.

I also deleted popupmaker and reinstalled it.

I have come to the conclusion that the problem has to be somewhere within popupmaker, so without any other info. form the company, I will just install a new pop up maker that will be compatible with 4.5.1 and responsive pro.

After 18 hours, that’s my conclusion, unless you have other info. for me.

    Thanks!!

@raymond Force – Can you reenable popup maker. I am not seeing the error now on your site. I can say the error I gave you definitely wasn’t in our JS. We don’t have anything like a[href=# in our code at all, which is what was causing the error.

That error was caused because WP 4.5 updated to jQuery 1.12 which corrected an earlier bug that made “a[href=#]” ok to use, when it really shouldn’t have. Many themes used that and now that the bug has been corrected, are now throwing breaking JS errors. Very likely any other popup plugin would suffer the same issue, even WooCommerce has a post stuck to their forums right now pointing out this issues and that its not a problem with WC but the themes.

The fix is quite simple just add “s around the # like a[href=”#”] and it resolves right away. Hundreds of our users have complained of broken popups already to find this is the issue. So I am very familiar with it in general, even managed to get dialogue started between WP Core team & jQuery team to prevent it in the future.

That said its not showing now so if the popup isn’t working something else may be happening which could be as simple as a setting not enabled.
