Poorly named but fantastically executed

I spent the last week searching for a WordPress plug-in that would only show the download link for registered users. I want to choose permissions by default so that only registered users can get the download link OR separate permissions for individual files. Well, THIS is it!

That’s the poorly named part… because I only saw by accident on a preview of this plug-in on another website that I could do it here and it’s not highlighted on the plug-in description page. Combining that ability with a previewer means that visitors get to preview the file without thinking registering will be a waste their time.

This plug-in will:
-let you create a custom profile so you chose if registered users or everyone sees the download link (or nobody)
-optionally allow you to disable copy and paste from the preview pane
-optionally allow you to shorten the URL

I do wish larger files could be previewed – but that is not a restriction of the plug-in its a restriction of the google previewer.

Overall the install was flawless, inserting files and getting the short code easy, and it didn’t hiccup with my premium personalized template.

As if THAT wasn’t enough. I had an initial problem SHOWING the download link to anyone (I had chosen the high-security profile) and after reading the FAQ and support forums I shot off a support request from the form integrated in the plug-in. I got a response in 4 hours – and not just a bonehead response but clear instructions on what to do (or what I did wrong).

P.S. I have a problem of bandwidth theft with ebay and amazon listings linking to the manuals on my website (25% of my bandwidth usage) – would love for an option for registered users to click to have a one-time URL for download emailed to them or some other blockage to stop people hotlinking from domains other than my own.
