Support » Plugin: Co-Authors Plus » Poor

  • Abysmal. Taken over a site where this is used and it has caused a major legacy issue that I can’t find a simple way to repair (and the solution even has to involve disabling the plugin, albeit temporarily, in order to get back to the default author box in post>edit that the plugin overwrites).

Any author added without an account is placed in the plugin’s own db. This doesn’t interact properly with wordpress or author plugins. Where a post has an author that doesn’t have a user account (is a ‘Guest Author’) wordpress thinks the author is whoever physically posted the post and displays this on pages where it lists posts (i.e. Category pages). Where themes or a plugin displays an author box, this is again read as the account that physically posted the post not the author that is assigned to it via this plugin.

So it seems I now have to manually correct years of errors caused by this plugins bad behaviour.
