• Hi,

I have installed Polylang, I have 4 different languages set up and I have assigned english as default languages to my pages.

When I list the pages in the dashboard I can see the + sign to create the translation page.

When I click it I can create the page in a different language and link it to the original english page, but as soon as I “publish” the page, the link disappears and the page defaults back to english.
If I see the list of pages in the dashboard, the new page just created doesn’t have the + buttons to create a link page.

I’m using the Listify theme, but I try to change the team and same problem occurs.

Any idea? I suspect I have some configuration/file incorrect but not idea what/where?

    Thanks you
    Nadia

  • Problem can be in…

    1. Theme
Try to switch in some core theme (example Twenty Seventeen) and test

    2. Conflict with another plugin
Deacivate all other plugins from your site except Polylang and test. If there isn’t problem anymore, activate one at a time to see which of these breaks the translation functionality.

    3. Database corruption
You can try to repair database: https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-corrupted-wordpress-database-2/ (backup your files and DB before doing this)

You should also check debug: https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

    Hi,
I have the exact same issue.

I tried solutions 1 & 2 of @veerap but nothing changed… And I don’t really want to dig into the database. Any other idea?

    Tks

Does it give some error messages?

Actually I managed to fix it. In fact, I had some custom post types with a custom taxonomy called mywebsite_language_taxonomy to be able to assign them a language and only display the corresponding languages.

So I removed my taxonomy language, and instead used embed function of Polylang for custom post (didn’t know it exists !). And it fixed the whole website.
In general I’ld say, try to avoid taxonomy with Polylang, apparently it leads to plenty of conflicts.

Thank you. I have created a lot of custom taxonomies, so I suspect I have the same problem. Thank you all for the help.
