• Hey everyone,
I was just thinking the other day about hacks that would be useful, and this is what I came up with:

    • Polls available to all, or only registered, users
    • An email updater, so that people can sign up with their email address and get notification each time a post is made or other related site activites

Any thoughts on this? Someday, when my life isn’t sucked away by other activities, I’ll work on them. Until then, perhaps some other brilliant PHP programmers can take a swing at it. Thanks!

  • I agree that having an email subscription/updating system would make for a good default addition.
I managed to hack my 0.71 WP and another PHP script to allow my visitors to be updated when a new post was made, and to allow them to unsuscribe or for me to send an email directly to the subscribers.
I have had others ask me how it was done, but because it was such an ugly hack I wouldn’t want to promote my method.

Sign me up for both of these

I would be interested in both of these hacks as well. The poll hack could be extremely lightweight too. I’m thinking like the b2calender . . . except it would be a poll.

The email notification hack is SO amazingly simple to code (see http://pimpress.com) I have no idea why it wasn’t included in either B2 or WordPress.

Are you sharing this code, Pimpress? I checked your site and it looks slick from the outside, but I’m not savvy enough to figure out how you did it.

i have implented a poll to b2, but it is kinda hardcoded. shall try to redo it.

i would love to know how this was done!
